Have been a bit late to the party when it comes to social networking sites ( LinkedIn, MySpace, FaceBook, etc) I’ve been very slack in getting on them and linking up to my real world network online. However, once I started this week I went networking mad. 35 people on facebook, 8 on Myspace and 2 on LinkedIn I’m really starting to understand the draw. Of all of them Facebook is the most appropriate for me, as most of my old school friends and University friends are on there and it lacks the general bugginess of MySpace plus no horrendous layouts. Facebook is building a really powerful social networking system. If I was a graduate recruiter in the UK, I’d want to have a presence on Facebook, as it seems to be the social network of the elites - mostly because of the University Networks and how the older University communities have embraced it. It was far easier to find my friends who went to red-brick universities rather than Swansea.

I’ve also found that Facebook has a very cool api available. I’ve just applied for an account and will be building some cool little tools I think.
