As per usual my blogging has fallen a little by the wayside, so a collection of updates.

Moving to Bath on the 17th of June, very cool, new house with a proper little garden prime for a bit of summer sleeping.
House warming soon after once all is sorted, so get in touch if your in area.

Dave Corthwaite is pretty close to finishing his first great challenge of being the first person to longboard the length of Great Britain. Check his progress here: Boardfree.co.uk

New bit of work coming up with teamrubber in Bristol, check them out too: TeamRubber.com and yes I know there is some serious table layout going on and yes I will do my best to sort it out.

Just started reading Joel on Software Amazon link a great book on the actual craft of producing software, a topic that the Swansea course didn’t touch on which I feel is a shame. There is a great chapter on how to evaluate a work place (coding wise) on what they do and what they implement. So far very few potential employers have met even two of the criteria he cites.

Peter Law AM / MP RIP

April 25th, 2006

It was with great sadness that I learnt today of the death of Peter Law AM / MP for Blaenau Gwent. A real People politician, the good work he did was recognised by all. I met him a couple of times officially during my student politics days, indeed without him and the all-women short list imposed on Blaenau Gwent, there would be no better deal for Welsh students that there is today. A man of character and I someone who was very clear about what he believed in and was proud to act accordingly. A great lost to the Welsh Assembly. I just hope the people of Blaenau Gwent don’t elect another crony. That would be a real disservice to what Peter stood for.

Little did I know how bad moving with Pipex was going to be regarding my ADSL connection. They were absolutely useless, exposing a backward crm and a complete misunderstanding of the problems of moving house. Shocking, as I expected far better. However the most interesting part of the whole affair has been the need to find other ways of access the internet. It is worrying how much it is depended upon. Whether it’s contacting friends, looking for an obscure book to buy or merely trying to remeber a recipe for flapjacks it is a bit scary. Anyway, new Tiscali broadband connection later and a couple of abusive phone calls to Pipex Customer service later, we’re back online.
